Welcome to the Cape Girardeau County History Center in Jackson, Missouri!

The Cape Girardeau County Historical Society opened their History Center in Uptown Jackson in 2015 thanks to perpetual financial support from the Shelby & Mildred Brown Trust. The Center displays rotating exhibits of regional interest including: military, biographical, organizational, school, church, and other topics. A favorite recurring exhibit theme is “Things People in Cape Girardeau County Collect.” The History Center is open Monday-Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., admission is free, and bus tours are welcome.

In 2020, the Historical Society realized their century-long dream when we opened a Regional Research Annex to house books, small manuscripts, genealogy resources, and photography collections, making them accessible to the public. The Research Annex is located just steps away from the History Center at 110 S. High Street in Jackson, Missouri. The Annex is open Tue.-Fri., and other times by appointment.
