The Cape Girardeau County Historical Society hosts seasonal workshops celebrating regional cultural arts, such as Shape Note Singing, German Paper Cutting, Putz House creation, and other arts and crafts. Check here for the Summer/Autumn 2023 offerings.

Summer/Autumn 2023

June 17: Join us for Traditional Music Night, Sat. June 17, from 7-9 p.m. at the History Center 102 S. High. Admission is free. Acoustic instruments only are welcome in the musicians circle.

June 25: Join us for a Shape Note singing group session on Sunday, June 25, from 6-8 p.m. at the History Center, 102 S. High St., Jackson, Mo. We have song books you can use. Participation is free.

July 8: CLASS IS FULL. Enroll in our Ukrainian Pysanky egg creating class with an expert in the craft. All supplies will be provided. There is a $5 class fee to be paid at the first class. Reservations are required at: 573-204-4240.

August 19: the Putz House wreath class will resume. It is for currently enrolled participants only. We will start another class in the Autumn.
