The Cape Girardeau Historical Society has educational history trunks available for reservation, these trunks are perfect for classrooms, organizations, homeschool groups or temporary exhibits.

Trunk Descriptions:
- Field Medicine-An introduction to how the United States Military cares for the health and wellbeing of its soldiers. The trunk has both the history of and artifacts about how medical care was provided in combat zones.
- The Bataan Death March-The Bataan Death March began on the 9th of April 1942 when 70,000 American and Filipino troops surrendered to the Japanese on the Bataan peninsula. This trunk tells their story through the eyes of one young man and his mother, Eugene Ralph and Helen Shoults. (12+)
- Caps, Patches and Ribbons-Military Uniforms, Caps, Patches and Ribbons tell many things about a serviceman or woman. This educational tub is intended to provide an introduction to this subject and allow exploration and learning about what these items tell people about the person wearing them through interactive games and other activities.
- Portrait of an Officer-This educational trunk features one man’s journey from enlistment to retirement in the United States Air Force and the path to becoming an officer in the United States military. It features artifacts from retired Captain Stan Baughn.
- Feeding the Troops-An introduction on how the military goes about feeding the soldiers under their care. This trunk has examples from the Red Clifton collection of food and cooking utensils used by our military.
- Vietnam-Conflict in the Jungle-This trunk explores the “Helicopter War” from the perspective of one of the pilots who flew helicopters during this time frame. Artifacts from James M. Price are included in this trunk.
- Civil War-Before, During, and After-This trunk explores the Civil War in southeast Missouri including the life of soldiers, enslaved people and the local aftermath of the war. the trunk includes artifacts, lesson plans and activities.
